What if people with Down Syndrome Ruled the World

Many people are comfortable with people with special needs and others are not as comfortable. In an article written by Dennis McGuire who is the Director of Psychosocial services at the Adult Down Syndrome Center, he talks about what it would be like if children with Down Syndrome ruled the world. He goes on to explain that affection, caring, and hugging would come back into play. People with down syndrome have such a positive out look on life and if they were in charge of everything, hopefully the hugging will rub off on everyone else. Another point he makes is people would be refreshingly honest. People with D.S tend to not hold back anything, they always speak their mind and follow their heart. In conclusion, if people with Down syndrome ruled the world, it would be a better place!

If people with D.S ruled the world, everything woul be more organized and more consistent. According to the article, people with D.S are more likely to use coping strategies. What this means is it is very common for them to use to use routine, order and sameness as a way of rationalising and taking control of their lives. Another reason why the world would be more organzied is because people with D.S tend to use self-talk to work through things, especially things that might seem confusing to them. With all these reasons, the world would be a lot more organized and in order!
